Hi, I’m Brittani

Long story short: I'm a book-loving editor who started a Bookstagram account in August 2024 to share my thoughts on the books I read.

My only goals are to share honest reviews and recommendations that could potentially help you find your next favourite read, while also having fun.

But here's a little bit more about me:

I'm an avid traveller, and though I've only been to 13 countries so far, I plan to visit many more before my travel years are behind me.

I am a musical theatre gal, and I've seen over 150 different productions since my high school days (when I started keeping track). My highest count for seeing a single show is 10 times (and it's Wicked, of course).

I also made my *triumphant* return to the stage in March 2026, playing Florence in a local production of Chess, The Musical. It was my first time onstage in nearly 15 years.

In my day-to-day "professional" life, I am the editor of two national magazines in the B2B world.

I am a wife to a man named Luke and a dog mom to a 5-year-old Manchester Terrier named Buffy. (Yes, she was named after Buffy the Vampire Slayer.)

I live in Southwestern Ontario, and through all our crazy seasons, you'll find me at home or out and about with a book always within reach.

I can wait to share this reading journey with you!

My reading journey

Fantastical beginnings

Any book I read as a child and a teen was fantasy or dystopian. From sorcery and witchcraft, to vampires and werewolves, to characters fighting oppressive governments in the very distant future. I loved them all.

A romantasy and dramatic young adulthood

What can I say? As a post-secondary student, I lived for the romance (that I didn't have in my own life) and the drama that came along with it. It was made better if it was set in some fantastical world.

The dark side + history

Now, as an adult, I live for psychological tension. There is nothing better than an unreliable narrator and a plot twist (or ten) that keeps me up until 2 AM questioning everything. Give me mystery, suspense, jump scares, crime, thrills and chills.

But I can't forget about historical fiction. I have a soft spot for stories that transport me to a time and place long ago. If it also includes a mystery to be solved, I will love it even more.

What makes a great book for me? It’s all about the twists and whether or not I can see it coming. I look for stories that crawl under my skin and stay there, long after the final page is turned.
