A book cover shows a profile view of a woman sitting on the other side of a window. The words "Confessions on the 7:45" and "Lisa Unger" are on the cover.

One day, Selena finds herself working late in the city and she must suddenly run for the late train back home to her husband and children. She takes a seat beside a beautiful stranger in the busy train car, and they strike up a conversation as they wait for a track delay to clear. In this weird situation they’re in, both ladies start spilling secrets - let's call it spilling confessions - about their lives, and a kind of bond forms. When the train starts moving again, it’s like the ladies forget what had transpired and they go their separate ways.

But when Selena’s life starts to fall apart pretty quickly afterwards, Selena starts to wonder: who was that woman on the train, really?

My thoughts:

This was a good story! Even if it felt like most of the events that take place could be seen coming from a mile away, it was still a good ride with some little surprises.

There were some interesting familial relations throughout this book, and as with any of Lisa Unger’s books, the characters are not all what/who they seem at the start.

I think there were a few things that happened near the end of the book that came out of nowhere, and there should’ve been more indicators throughout the story, but I won’t go into too much detail in order to avoid spoilers!

It was great to read one of Lisa’s earlier books, since I’d read her more recent books to start out.

#QOTD: If you start following an author’s novels, do you also go back to read their earlier books? Or do you just start from whatever point you’re at continue with their future books? Let me know what you think!
