The cover of Meredith Lavender and Kendall Shores' book "Perfect Life"

A shocking murder in a woman’s pool forces her to face the many secrets from her past...

Oooh, that is a great line to pull you into this book!

Perfect Life by Meredith Lavender & Kendall Shores sees Este Walker, wife to billionaire Beau Walker, living in a dream neighbourhood in Florida. But nothing is dreamy about finding a dead body in your pool after a hurricane blows through town.

As we go back in time, sometimes by a couple of years, sometimes just by a few days before the storm, we see the events that have led to this tragic accident… or cruel murder? That, you’ll have to figure out for yourself. Oh, and that’s not even the only death in the book!

I was given Perfect Life as an ARC by Bantam/Penguin Random House, so first and foremost, I’d like to say thank you to Meredith and Kendall for writing this story and Bantam/PRH for sharing this book with me early, and NetGalley for facilitating it!

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My thoughts on Perfect Life:

Of course, when receiving an ARC, the expectation is to provide you with my honest opinion. And here it is: I honestly didn’t think I would like this book as much as I did!

The book starts off showing this perfect life that Este is living: so much money, a customized house to their every need and want, a luxurious neighbourhood in Florida, lovely friends and parties to attend, and so on. It made me want to gag, maybe because life just isn’t perfect like that for most people.

And then the other shoe drops in Este’s life, and shit hits the fan. It gets REAL, real fast. And probably around the 35% mark, I was getting truly sucked into the story.

I made some correct guesses, then I made a guess and was so close to getting it right, but I was just one degree of separation off.

There was one quote that I absolutely LOVED, (*put it above my head*) and I truly hope it makes it into the final version. I’m going to be heading to the bookstore to check as soon as July 7th rolls around.

Once again, thank you to Meredith and Kendall, and to Bantam/PRH for letting me read this book early!

Question of the day

If you had the choice of living in Florida, California, or New Orleans, where would you choose and why? I can’t wait to hear your picks!
