I think I just found my favourite book of the year.

The cover of Kelley Armstrong's book, "Dive Bar at the End of the Road"

Now, because I don't do spoilers, all I’ll tell you is this: Imagine driving down a dark, rain-soaked road in the middle of nowhere when a series of mysterious car accidents leaves a group of complete strangers stranded at a dive bar.

Sounds safe, right? Not exactly...

Dive Bar at the End of the Road by Kelley Armstrong was so dang good.

I was honoured to receive an ARC from St. Martin’s Press in exchange for my honest review, so thank you so much for sending this one my way! And thank you to Kelley for writing this story.

My thoughts on Dive Bar At The End Of The Road:

This book grabbed me pretty quickly. We have five strangers, a massive storm, a creepy dive bar in the middle of nowhere, and the growing realization that something about this whole situation is very wrong.

And the atmosphere is so good and so well written. It has that perfect “we are absolutely not getting out of this alive” feeling.

The whole time, you’re trying to figure out what is actually happening, who you can trust, and whether these people have any chance of making it through the night.

Fair warning: Kelley does not hold back when it comes to the horror. There are some seriously creepy moments, some unsettling things happening in the woods, and enough nightmare fuel to make me question every dark road I ever drive down again.

I also loved how unpredictable this felt. There were definitely moments where I thought I knew where the story was going, only for it to take another turn. And I loved every second of it.

And that ending had me sitting there like… WAIT. THAT’S IT?! KELLEY! (Because I wanted more!)

This was creative, creepy, brutal and completely unhinged in the best possible way.

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you like supernatural horror, isolated settings, strangers thrown together in terrifying circumstances, and books that keep getting weirder and scarier the further you go, read this book. (Just don’t read it before a late-night road trip.)

Dive Bar At The End Of The Road by Kelley Armstrong comes out on October 6.

Question of the day:

With spooky season in full swing, what is the most unhinged horror book you’ve ever read?
