The book cover for Shari Lapena's "She Didn't See It Coming"

A much beloved mother/wife/sister disappears, and the entire condo building turns into a potential crime scene.

What happened to her? Is she still alive? Is she actually dead? If so, where is she? How could a potential murderer get her out of the building without anyone seeing it? How could her perfect life end in such an imperfect way?

That’s what we need to figure out!

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

My Thoughts

I have mixed feelings about this one. But regardless, I’m always going to give major shoutouts to Canadian authors! Lapena also shares the same first name—and spelling—with my mom, so I’ve always loved that.

The book cover for Shari Lapena's "An Unwanted Guest"

I’ll be honest: I have yet to read a Shari Lapena book I love as much as her 2018 book, “An Unwanted Guest”. But I keep trying with each of her books. I just wish this book were slightly more gripping, especially since I spotted the murderer near the beginning of the story.

Also, when I read this one last summer, the day before I was going to start reading it, I saw Lapena on CTV’s “Your Morning”, and she ruined a big plot point during her live interview. So, maybe next time, no spoilers on TV, okay?

Question of the day

If your partner/loved one went missing from her secure condo building, where would be the first place you looked? Let me know!
