Marcus Kliewer’s The Caretaker is about a young woman who accepts a caretaking job that she found on Craigslist, who then discovers that the position has far greater consequences than she could have ever imagined.
Far greater and far more dangerous.
And what started as a peculiar side gig soon becomes a waking nightmare for Macy Mullins, and it could change her life forever.
My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My thoughts
There’s no way that I could give The Caretaker anything other than a 5-star rating. It was so well done! Bravo, Marcus Kliewer, bravo.
This is such a good premise for a book: just follow the rites (aka, the rules/instructions). If you do that, everything will be okay. And I don’t even think it’s a spoiler to say that there’s at least one time that Macy is not able to follow the rites as she was told to do.
The ending was PERFECT. And, my god, I can’t tell you the details because the book will be ruined, but I was literally sitting there like “GOD DAMN” afterwards.
I also finished this in less than 2 days and started it the day it was published, so you might say that I was excited for this to come out. If you like paranormal haunting horror thrilling chilling books, go get this book and read it. NOW.
Question of the day
If you went to a job interview for a personal caregiver position, and found out instead that the job required was something else entirely, would you apologize and excuse yourself from finishing the rest of the interview? Or would you hear out the potential employer and see what she was offering as compensation? Let me know what you think!
