The Girls Trip by Ally Condie

Three gal pals, Hope, Ash, and Caro decide to go on a little girls trip and disappear from their lives for a little bit of time in this novel.

These girls met when they joined a book club, and their friendships took off from there. When each woman seems to be at a difficult point in their lives, they decide to go on this little trip and get away from it all. But we learn quickly that the books they read for their club aren’t the only things hiding secrets.

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

My thoughts on The Girls Trip:

This novel is a bit chaotic, and for some novels, the chaos really works. This one? Maybe not so much. I think there were too many things that came out of nowhere, without any clues for the reader to point them in the right direction. Like, for example, the “big bad” who is revealed at the end of the novel.

I liked that the book presented a very realistic scenario in which these girls met for a Book Club hosted on Zoom during the pandemic, and from there, their friendship grew. But then the story grew so large, encompassing so many different people, and it might’ve started to lose focus a bit.
