The Summer House Murder by Ava Roberts

A summer vacation in the Adirondacks is flipped, turned upside down when a woman’s body is discovered in the nearby lake.

Let’s all get to know sisters Esme, Piper and Regina a little bit better, as we follow them to their family summer house for their annual gathering. Each sister is bringing her own set of problems to the house this year, and of course, their husbands and children are about to get caught up in it all as well.

But when a young woman’s body is found practically washed up on their property’s shore, tensions start to boil over, and we need to figure out who the murderer is before the sisters really turn on one another and do or say something they can’t take back.

My thoughts on The Summer House Murder:

So The Summer House Murder is a total revenge story, from start to finish. It’s not even a spoiler to say that, because the description kind of already gives that away. This particular revenge plot is done pretty well, with some nice twisty parts and a few more predictable ones.

I think the characters in this story are all horrible. Like, truly, this is just a terrible family, and I think that might be why I could only give this book 3 stars. I didn’t relate to any of them, nor did I sympathize with any of them. If I’m not able to get invested in a character, it’s hard for me to get invested in the story as a whole, and that was the experience here.
