“As so many fairytales point out, sometimes to slay a monster you become one, too…”
Aria Stokes is living a pretty good life. She works in a bookshop—yes please!—and she’s dating a cute guy named Jasper who likes books and seems to really like her as well. On Valentine’s Day, Jasper takes Aria to an exclusive, after-dark tour of the famous Daedalus Library, a place known for its dark, haunting past. Except it’s the very last place Aria wants to be.
When the power is cut and there’s no way out but to go forward through this bookish maze, and then people start dying… this little tour group of 8 needs to figure out who they can trust before it’s too late.
I was lucky to be selected to be on the official Daedalus Librarians Street Team and got to read an ARC of this book, and here’s what I thought!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My thoughts
Just like in Ande’s first book, we have a large cast of characters to deal with here, and one of them is a serial killer, of course!
Above all else, this book was twisty, this book was dark, this book had shocks that made me gasp, this book had me face-palming at some points. So it had a little bit of everything, and it made for a great read.
A big thank you goes out to Ande Pliego for this new book, and to Dan Denning and his team at Ballantine/Bantam at PRH for selecting me to be part of the official Daedalus Librarians street team. This was such a fun reading experience!
The Library After Dark comes out on MAY 5!
Question of the day
If you were trapped in a library overnight, would you be trying to find your way out? Or would you just hunker down in a corner and wait until the daytime staff arrived the next morning? Let me know!
